Defiant Board Society has just released their new electric skateboard, the Defiant: One, and it’s not just about speed. The company is looking to bring e-skating back to its non-powered cultural roots, combining style, performance, and innovation with a nod to skate culture.
The Defiant: One board is powered by two 4.5kW 6396 electric motors, giving it a top speed of 38 mph (61 km/h). It also has a 930Wh Molicell battery that is divided into modules and spread across the bottom of the 46″ long American maple deck, providing a more natural flex. The top of the deck features a retro-looking display to show pertinent ride data.
The boards are produced by hand in the US, making them a rarity in an industry dominated by mass-produced Chinese-made electric skateboards. They are currently on pre-order and priced at $3,000.
Defiant Board Society is hoping to capture the essence of skate culture for a product that has gone far beyond it. Whether you’re looking to rediscover your wonder years or just want to experience the thrill of electric skateboarding, the Defiant: One is sure to provide an unforgettable ride.
