Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato has confirmed that the firm’s Giulia sedan will be replaced by a full electric vehicle (EV) in 2025. The Giulia, which has been on sale since 2016, has helped revitalize the Alfa Romeo brand, but is in need of a serious refresh. The EV version of the Giulia will feature an 800V electrical architecture, allowing for a 10-80% charge in as little as 18 minutes. It will also produce 1000 hp and have a range of up to 435 miles, thanks to a 100 kWh battery pack.
In addition to the Giulia EV, Alfa Romeo is also planning to launch an electric Stelvio SUV in 2026. This Porsche Macan EV rival will offer over 300 miles of range and cost around $60,000. The firm is also set to release its first B-segment SUV (or crossover in US terms) in 2021. Dubbed the Brennero, this vehicle will be available in both ICE and hybrid form and will sit below the Tonale and Stelvio. It is currently unknown if the Brennero will be offered in the US.
Finally, Alfa Romeo intends to launch a flagship EV sedan by 2027. This electric sedan will be a rival to the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S and will be heavily targeted at US and Chinese customers. With these new EVs, Alfa Romeo is sure to reach a new customer base and continue to revitalize its brand.
