One of the most unique vehicles I’ve seen in my Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week column is this two-seater electric car with tank tracks. It’s a strange combination of parts, but it’s also incredibly cute. Alibaba claims it can fit three passengers, but I’m not sure where they expect us to fit a third person.
Unfortunately, Alibaba doesn’t provide any information about the tech specs, motor power, battery capacity, or top speed. We can’t even get a look behind the curtain to see how it’s made. But I’m sure it’s not very fast. The main draw of this vehicle is its all-terrain capabilities, allowing it to traverse sand, dirt, snow, and other loose terrain.
The vehicle comes nicely outfitted with hard plastic seats, headlights, and a steering wheel. How does a steering wheel work with no axles? That’s a mystery for Alibaba’s engineers to figure out.
The best part about this weirdmobile is its price tag: only $1,800. That’s a steal compared to some of the other strange vehicles we’ve seen on Alibaba. Shipping could end up costing you double what the vehicle costs, but it’s still worth considering.
If you decide to take the plunge and buy this electric vehicle with tank treads, be sure to let me know how it turns out!
