Cadillac is charging ahead with its plans for an all-electric lineup by 2030, with the reveal of three new EVs set for 2023. The automaker’s first fully electric vehicle, the Lyriq, was unveiled in 2021 and has seen a slow rollout due to quality assurance inspections.
Rory Harvey, head of Cadillac, explained that the Lyriq ramp-up is on schedule and will continue to increase throughout the year. The automaker reported around 233,000 people interested in the vehicle, with 122 total units sold in 2022.
The Lyriq recall last year due to software issues was part of the reason for the slow ramp, but now “everything is fixed,” according to Harvey, and production is ramping significantly.
In addition to the Lyriq, Cadillac will reveal three new EVs this year, not including the $300,000 hand-built, premium luxury Celestiq set to launch in December.
Are electric car batteries recyclable? Yes, electric car batteries are recyclable and can be reused in other applications. Are electric car charging stations free? It depends on the station and location, but many electric car charging stations are free or offer discounted rates. Are electric car chargers universal? No, electric car chargers are not universal and must be compatible with the specific make and model of the vehicle.
As Cadillac continues its transition to an all-electric brand, it is clear that electric vehicles are here to stay. With more EVs set to be revealed in 2023, it will be interesting to see how the industry evolves in the coming years.
