Geely, the Chinese automotive giant, is taking on the top EV contenders like Tesla and BYD with the launch of its new high-end electrified product series. The first fully electric vehicle from the sub-brand, the Galaxy E8, is set to launch in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Geely has been working towards sustainable transportation since its acquisition of Volvo from Ford in 2010. The partnership has paid off with the success of Volvo’s C40 and XC40 Recharge electric SUVs, as sales more than doubled.
Geely also operates a brand of vehicles under its own name alongside Geometry – its mass-market EV unit, and Zeekr, its premium smart EV brand. Now, Geely is adding another high-end electric brand to its portfolio called Geely Galaxy.
At a flagship event in Hangzhou Thursday, Geely announced that its premium electrified series would be called Geely Galaxy. The brand will launch seven new electrified products, including three fully electric vehicles under the pure Galaxy E range.
The Geely Galaxy brand will feature its latest battery safety technology and new Galaxy N-Operating system, allowing its models the fastest system startup and response in its class. More details, including range and pricing, will be revealed at a later date.
Geely is making a bold move to compete in the rapidly expanding EV market with the launch of its new high-end electrified product series. With the success of Volvo’s C40 and XC40 Recharge electric SUVs, Geely is well-positioned to take on the top EV contenders with its new Geely Galaxy brand.
