Hyundai is set to make its biggest electric car drop to date next week, with a total of 470 vehicles available for purchase. This includes the all-new Ioniq 6 sedan and 170 Ioniq 5 SUVs. The drop will take place on Wednesday, February 22 at 1pm AEDT, and is expected to be as fiercely contested as past online offerings.
The Ioniq 6 will be available in three variants: 229 Dynamiq 2WD, 36 Techniq AWD, and 35 Epiq AWD. Deliveries of the sleek sedan will happen within three months of the order placement. Prices start from $74,000 before on-roads for the Dynamiq 2WD model, $83,500 for the Techniq AWD model, and $88,000 for the top-of-the-range Epiq AWD model.
The Ioniq 5 SUV will include 48 Dynamiq 2WD, 68 Techniq AWD, and 54 Epiq AWD. Deliveries of the SUV will be within 2-4 weeks of orders being placed. Prices start from $72,000 before on-roads for the Dynamiq 2WD model, $79,500 for the Techniq AWD model, and $85,000 for the top-of-the-range Epiq AWD model.
The Ioniq 6 boasts some unique features that are not found in many EVs available to us in Australia. It has a very low drag coefficient which makes it very efficient, and can charge from 10-80% in 18 minutes at a 350 kW charger. At a 50 kW charger, it can be done in 73 minutes. At home, a 7 kW charger will charge the pack in just under 12 hours.
The Ioniq 5 also has a 77.4 kWh battery pack that can deliver up to 454 km of WLTP range in the Epiq and Techniq AWD variants. For the Dynamiq 2WD variant, the battery pack can deliver up to 508 km of WLTP range.
Hyundai anticipates the next few batches to be scheduled for both March and April. With such an impressive lineup of electric cars available, this drop is sure to be highly anticipated.
