A photo of what appears to be the Tesla Model 3 refresh – also known as Project Highland – has been circulating online just a few months before the facelifted electric sedan is set to enter production. Posted on the r/TeslaMotors subreddit by user ffiarpg, the image shows a vehicle that clearly follows Tesla’s design language, although it lacks visible Tesla badging at the front.
The partially covered vehicle reveals a number of changes compared to the current model, including new headlights, a new front bumper, new wheels, and more. The headlights have a more horizontal layout than the current model and appear slimmer and more aggressive, resembling a combination of Tesla Model S and Roadster 2.0 headlamps. Additionally, the vehicle appears to lack fog lights, likely because their function is now performed by the headlights. The bumper is also sportier, with a round shape and a sharp lip at the lower end. The alloy wheel design is also new and fits the car’s design.
The interior of the refreshed Model 3 is expected to feature an updated dashboard and a fabric finish, possibly the same Alcantara found in the Model S and Model X. The rear end is also expected to feature significant changes, as Tesla Model 3 Project Highland prototypes spotted in recent months always featured fully camouflaged front and rear ends. A recent report citing an unnamed insider also suggested that the refreshed Model 3 will get a redesigned rear bumper.
The r/TeslaMotors community appears to be divided on whether or not this is indeed the Model 3 Project Highland. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section.
