Polestar has just completed the first production example of its rear-windowless CUV coupé, the Polestar 4, at its Geely-operated factory in China. The car is set to be delivered to customers in China by the end of 2023, with other markets following in early 2024.
The Polestar 4 is the most ecologically sustainable car produced by the company, with a total lifecycle emissions equivalent of 19.4 tonnes of CO2. This is partly due to the fact that the Geely factory in Hangzhou, where the Polestar 4 is initially being constructed, is 100% renewable-powered, running entirely on hydroelectric and roof solar.
In the US, production of the Polestar 4 will shift from China to South Korea in the second half of 2025. These cars will be assembled under contract by the Renault Group in South Korea, making them ineligible for the Inflation Reduction Act tax credit unless customers choose to lease.
For more information on the Polestar 4, you can read the official press release or check out our first ride in the car at Polestar Day. With its eco-friendly production and impressive specs, the Polestar 4 is sure to be a hit with customers around the world.
