Volvo Plug-In Car Sales Increase Significantly in February 2023

Volvo Cars USA reported a 38 percent year-over-year increase in car sales in the United States in February, with 8,560 vehicles sold. In Canada, Volvo improved plug-in electric car sales by 65 percent year-over-year in February and the share amounted to 44 percent of the total volume. The company’s US lineup consists solely of electrified models (mild hybrid, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric), including two BEVs (XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge). The all-new Volvo EX90 model is set to join them soon and will be produced locally alongside the Polestar 3.

By 2030, Volvo plans to increase all-electric car sales share to 100 percent globally and increase sales volume to 1.2 million units annually. This is an ambitious goal that will require significant investment in research and development as well as production capacity.
